Ecological Sea Turtle Protection Camp

Mayan Palace Acapulco takes pride in its efforts to protect the sea turtles that come from as far away as Japan to feed, grow and nest on the beach.
Working with ecologists and local fisherman, the Mayan Resorts established the Sea Turtle Conservation Program to save the sea turtles from extinction. The program funds research, conducts workshops and shares knowledge with the other area hotels and resorts.
Eggs are collected from the beach and taken to a "turtle camp" at the Acapulco Mayan Resorts where they are placed in incubators to be sheltered until they hatch.

Mayan Palace Acapulco guests are invited to the seaside ceremony to return the baby turtles to the ocean. Standing at the shore, guests "adopt" a baby turtle and gently place it back into the sea.
Since the programs inception six years ago, an incredible 600,000 baby sea turtles have been returned to their natural habitat.
